#WeatherWiser ka na ba? WeatherPhilippines steps up online education campaign

Since its inception, WeatherPhilippines has advocated the need to optimize weather for socio-economic growth and sustainable development, as part of its vision for the Philippines to become a #WeatherWiser Nation.

Building a #WeatherWiser Nation requires us to spread practical weather knowledge, and to educate people via channels that make learning easier and more fun to do.

This began with the foundation’s establishment of an extensive network of Automated Weather Stations (AWS) all over the country. But in today’s knowledge era, strengthening the country’s disaster-preparedness does not stop with the deployment of AWS nationwide.

Aside from conducting face-to-face weather trainings for local governments and businesses, WeatherPhilippines also seeks to empower Filipinos to become #WeatherWiser in a few clicks, in just a few minutes.

The #WeatherWiser Ka Na Ba? series illustrates weather in simple terms, and helps you discover the science behind all the weather phenomena we’re experiencing- like why it rains, where clouds come from, and how the sun influences our weather. The series consists of 12 episodes which you can watch via the website, weather.com.ph, and WeatherPhilippines’s social media accounts.

If videos are not friendly to your Internet connection, then don’t fret! WeatherPhilippines periodically releases weather-related articles on the website that explain prevailing weather conditions we usually experience. Topics range from seasonal monsoons in the Philippines, to guides on how equinoxes and solstices affect the tropical regions’ length of days and weather patterns.

Still feel you’re not smart enough to become #WeatherWiser? Think again. You don’t need a degree in Meteorology to understand how air pressure systems affect our weather. All you need is an open mind, a place where you can concentrate, Internet connection, and less than five minutes of your time.

So what are you waiting for? Be #WeatherWiser now!
