Aboitiz Construction, in partnership with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Region 10, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Bukidnon, and MACES Skills Training Institute, Inc. has embarked on an initiative aimed at providing opportunities for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs). A partnership signing ceremony was held in Malaybalay City District Jail Reformatory System last May 29.

Aboitiz Construction, in collaboration with Aboitiz Foundation turns over a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) for the local government of Barangay Bagong Pook in Malvar, Batangas. This initiative reflects the commitment of the Aboitiz Group to fostering environmental responsibility and promoting sustainable development. Participants gained practical knowledge in understanding the concepts and impacts of transition finance, its contributions to national policy development, and what would be the actionable strategies to overcome the barriers and how each industry can drive sustainable finance at scale. GT Capital and the Aboitiz Group remain committed to fostering collaboration and innovation in sustainability efforts, with outcomes from this event contributing significantly to creating a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable low-carbon economy.

On May 16, Aboitiz Land, Aboitiz Foundation, Connected Women, and the Liloan Municipality inked a partnership in Liloan, Cebu to implement the Elevate AIDA program, which aims to provide underprivileged women with training in artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, and other tech skills. This training is designed to enhance employment opportunities and foster long-term, flexible work for women in Liloan.

The signatories of the memorandum include Hontiveros-Malvar, Mardi Suplido-Mapa, Chief Operating Officer of the Aboitiz Foundation, CG VADM Rolando Punzalan Jr., Deputy Commandant for Operations of the Philippine Coast Guard, and Armando Balilo, Commander of the Coast Guard Civil Relation Service. The memorandum was signed at the Philippine Coast Guard’s National Headquarters.

The meeting outlined stricter regulatory and tax enforcement strategies in response to the challenges posed by tobacco and vape product smuggling. These include implementing new tax measures, enhancing monitoring, and enforcing stricter compliance protocols to curb illegal trade and ensure public safety.
