Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. is the Aboitiz Group's corporate foundation established in 1988. In partnership with Aboitiz business units, the foundation empowers future leaders with resources and scholarships, creates jobs through digital skills training and community development, and prioritizes climate action with nature-based solutions for a sustainable future. After 37 years, it continues its legacy with a renewed commitment to expand flagship programs, foster global collaborations, and harness innovation in its unwavering mission to shape a brighter future for its communities and for the nation.

The history of the Aboitiz Foundation traces back to the late 19th century, rooted in the family’s long-standing belief that business should create positive impact for communities. Long before corporate social responsibility became a common practice, the Aboitiz family already viewed service, integrity, and nation-building as part of doing business.
The Group’s philanthropic journey began with its founder, Don Ramon Aboitiz, who was known for his personal commitment to helping communities in need. During this period, the Group supported various charitable institutions, including the Asilo dela Milagrosa orphanage and the Cebu Boys’ Center. These early efforts helped shape a culture where giving back was seen not just as charity, but as a responsibility.
In 1988, the Group formalized its social development efforts through the creation of the Aboitiz Group Foundation, Inc., now known as Aboitiz Foundation. This marked an important step toward a more strategic and organized approach to community development. The Foundation launched programs focused on education, disaster resilience, and nation-building, including the Aboitiz Scholarship Program and initiatives such as WeatherPhilippines Foundation, which helped strengthen disaster preparedness in the country.
Over the years, the Foundation expanded its reach across the country through strong partnerships with communities, schools, local governments, and civil society organizations. Its work grew to include disaster response, education support through Brigada Eskwela, environmental programs such as the nationwide A-Park tree-planting initiative, and wildlife conservation efforts at the Aboitiz Cleanergy Park. These initiatives reflected a shift from localized assistance toward creating long-term and sustainable impact nationwide.
Moving beyond its traditional borders, the Foundation has expanded its reach to a global scale, actively fostering international partnerships and engaging a diverse network of global donors. Driven by the commitment to change today to shape the future, this evolution ensures that the same spirit of service that guided the family’s earliest endeavors now fuels a powerful engine for both national progress and global sustainable development.
