Cotabato Light turns over its first-ever electrical laboratory

AboitizPower subsidiary Cotabato Light and Power Co. (Cotabato Light), in partnership with the Aboitiz Foundation, officially turned over the first-ever electrical laboratory (e.Lab) within its franchise area to Canizares National High School of Arts and Trade last February 3, 2017 in Cotabato City.

Through the years, Cotabato Light has been very supportive in providing assistance to schools within its franchise. Among the various forms of assistance it has extended were refurbishments of school classroom buildings, science and computer laboratories, computer donations, and educational assistance to performing students—a manifestation of its commitment to improve the quality of education in the region.

The e.Lab, which supports the Department of Education’s K to 12 curriculum, is for learners who will be taking up Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) Courses. The Technical and Educational and Skills Development Authority will then issue a National Certification (NC) II or Certificate of Competency (COC) to the passers of the course, which can be used as documentation in applying for gainful employment after they finish senior high school.

The new electrical laboratory facility also included 10 sets of training table & assessment facilities, 50 armchairs, an information wall and white Boards amounting to almost P500,000.00.

The symbolic key was handed over by Cotabato Light Human Resources and Reputation Enhancement Head Anna Lea Lee L. Nataño and was received by school principal Malumpig Balawag and DepEd Division Superintendent Dr. Concepion Ferrer – Balawag- Al Hadj together with several teachers, students, and barangay officials.

Cotabato Light will continue to hold on to its commitment and thrust as a dependable electric provider in the area and a partner in progress that will create greater and meaningful impact to the community

Also present were DepEd Curriculum Implementation Division Officer Evelyn Balanag Tacderan, RH-10 Barangay Chairman Kombol G. Mamalangkay, Schaminco Contractor Head Engr. Hamin L. Amino & Engr. Suharto A. Bationg, and PTA & Co. President Kag. Abdulkadir M. Palanan.
