‘Advancing Business & Communities’: Aboitiz introduces refreshed group purpose and brand positioning

The Aboitiz Group recently unveiled a refreshed group purpose and brand positioning to further guide its pursuit of a “better world” through its various businesses and fulfill its mission to create long-term value for all its stakeholders.

The company’s refreshed purpose (to drive change for a better world) and brand positioning (Advancing Business and Communities) was unveiled by Erramon I. Aboitiz, Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. (AEV) President and Chief Executive Officer, during the AEV Annual Stockholders Meeting last May 15 in Makati City.

“Our Group Purpose and refreshed brand positioning inspired us to bring together our business and our impact-on-society stories through this year’s maiden release of the consolidated performance report,” Aboitiz said.

The Aboitiz Group marked a milestone with the unveiling of its 2016 integrated annual report—making the group one of the country’s first conglomerates to adopt an integrated reporting form for its annual report.

The Aboitiz 2016 integrated annual report is organized and presented in accordance with the G4 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines of international sustainability reporting organization GRI, with key performance indicators also aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The report’s materiality, as defined by the GRI G4 reporting framework, includes topics and indicators that reflect the Aboitiz Group’s significant economic, environmental, and social impacts or would substantively influence the assessments and decisions of stakeholders.

“The structure of the report follows the Aboitiz BetterWorld sustainability framework that allows us to track, monitor, report, and evaluate our performance in a cohesive manner. We work closely with our BUs across the country to be able to provide a consistent and unified manner of reporting,” Aboitiz said.

Moving forward, Aboitiz said the company’s strategic business units (SBUs) in power, banking and financial services, food, infrastructure, and land will all play significant roles in the fulfillment of the group’s purpose.

“On our journey moving forward, advancing business and communities is how we will drive change for a better world. We advance business and communities by powering progress, providing smart banking solutions, creating partners for growth, building infrastructure, and empowering communities. Through our core businesses, we contribute to nation building, helping uplift the lives of millions of Filipinos,” he explained.

Aboitiz also stressed that even with the expansion of the group’s business, AEV will sustain and even ramp up its investments in corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives across the country.

“CSR has always been a vital component of our business model, and sustainability is at the core of our growth strategy. As our business expands, we increase our social infrastructure investments in our communities. We constantly seek ways to integrate progress with environment and societal stewardship. We believe that we can do well by doing good, always making the right long-term decisions that balance the interests of people, planet, and profit,” Aboitiz added.
