Aboitiz Group challenged to create disruptions for social good

The Aboitiz Group, through the Aboitiz and WeatherPhilippines Foundations, expressed its full support to the call of the League of Corporate Foundations (LCF) to create disruptions for social good during the LCF Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Expo held on July 19-20 in Makati City.

Inspired by its purpose of driving change for a better world, the Aboitiz Group’s CSR Expo delegation–led by the Aboitiz Foundation–committed to take the lead in developing innovative and inclusive business models within the Aboitiz business units (BUs). These models will disrupt traditional business principles, and redesign systems, practices, and processes towards creating integrated value for both the Aboitiz Group’s businesses and their respective assisted communities.

“We in the Aboitiz Group are more aggressive to shift our strategies and mindset, and create synergy among all our business units. In the coming months, we will implement more development projects that are aligned with our core businesses in power, infrastructure, construction, banking, and food. We are passionate to find better ways of doing business to drive change for a better world,” Aboitiz Foundation First Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Maribeth Marasigan during the learning session at the LCF CSR Expo.

Also present during the LCF CSR Expo was private weather information provider WeatherPhilippines Foundation. During the expo, WeatherPhilippines Foundation Typhoon Specialist Adonis S. Manzan explains the dynamics of an Automated Weather Station and how it is essential in providing free, more localized, and accurate weather services to the public. To date, a total of 792 AWS are deployed nationwide.

Disaster resilience and preparedness through WeatherPhilippines is part of the Aboitiz Foundation’s aim to co-create safer communities.

The Aboitiz Foundation, the corporate foundation of the Aboitiz Group, also set up its exhibit during the said CSR expo. In its exhibit, the Foundation featured some of its projects that are all geared towards co-creating safe, empowered, and sustainable communities. These projects are implemented through 32 Aboitiz BUs nationwide that are assisted by the Foundation in terms of program development and management, and capacity building. In 2016, the Aboitiz Group has implemented 1,446 projects, benefitting a total of 461,893 individuals through projects in education, enterprise development, environment, and health and well-being.
