WeatherPhilippines bags top Philippine Quill Award

Aboitiz-led private weather information provider WeatherPhilippines Foundation, in its maiden entry, was recognized as among the country’s most outstanding organizations in communication management, along with four other communication campaigns spearheaded by the Aboitiz Group, at the 15th Philippine Quill Awards.

During the awards ceremony held by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines last July 5 at the Manila Marriott Hotel, Newport City, Pasay City, WeatherPhilippines received an Award of Excellence (Non-Profit Campaigns) and the Top Division Award in Communication Management (after garnering the highest score among hundreds of entries in this division). This entry focused on showcasing WeatherPhilippines’ strategy in the implementation of its #WeatherWiser Nation campaign.

“WeatherPhilippines is humbled to have received such honor from IABC. Now, more than ever, we are more committed to providing free and accessible weather knowledge to everyone, ensuring the safety and resilience of our communities in the years to come,” said Dave Michael V. Valeriano, WeatherPhilippines Vice President and General Manager.

Three Aboitiz initiatives also received Awards of Excellence: Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc.’s (AEV’s) BetterWorld Campaign (for Internal Communication), an internal cascade of the company’s Aboitiz BetterWorld policy that inspired a paradigm shift in the way team members delivered the Aboitiz commitment to build a sustainable enterprise that can be entrusted to future generations and Aboitiz Eyes (for Publications and Digital Communications), the company’s monthly digital publication that has been transformed into a powerful communication tool engaging a growing and diverse audience.

AEV’s Media Relations Program (Media Relations), which was instrumental in building, enhancing, and protecting the Aboitiz reputation and effectively implemented without an outsourced external agency, thus resulting in significant savings for the company, won a Merit Award.

“We are pleased to receive these accolades on behalf of the Aboitiz Group and our hardworking team members. Communication is an integral part of the way we do business in Aboitiz, and what we say or do is just as important as how we communicate it. Inspired by these awards, we will continue implementing communication initiatives that drive change for a better world by advancing business and communities,” AEV said in a statement.

The Philippine Quill Awards is considered the country’s most prestigious awards program in the field of business communication. Organized annually by IABC Philippines, it has given its seal of approval to the most reputable organizations and corporations in the nation for over a decade, emphasizing the excellent use of communication to achieve business goals, and to make a difference in society.
