This was the message of Erramon I. Aboitiz, Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. (AEV) President and Chief Executive Officer, to 91 of the country’s best and brightest college student delegates at the recent 11th Aboitiz Future Leaders Business Summit (AFLBS).

This year’s summit was held at the Marco Polo Plaza Cebu on November 3-5.  It carried the theme “Filipino Youth, Global Leaders: Driving Business Excellence to Secure a Better World for the Next Generation.”

During his talk entitled “#BetterWorld: The Aboitiz Way,” Aboitiz acknowledged that the AFLBS delegates—58 from Luzon, 20 from Visayas, 13 from Mindanao, coming from various degree courses such as Accountancy, Engineering, Economics, and Psychology, among other—are already in a prime position to foster their leadership skills.

“You millennials already have what it takes to become global leaders,” Aboitiz said. “We trust that this leadership summit will further motivate you to aspire to be a positive change agent for the greater good. Envision yourself to be a global leader in the future, making a difference both here at home and abroad.”

“When you step out of the halls of your university and enter the real world, may you always be constantly aware of the transforming role of your actions not only in your place of employment, but also in the communities you affect,” he added.

Every year, the AFLBS gathers the country’s brightest college student leaders for a three-day summit of fun and knowledge through activities that allow participants to develop their leadership skills and learn how to concretize management concepts in a corporate environment.

Top Aboitiz executives from different Aboitiz business units namely; AEV’s Dmi Lozano, AboitizPower’s Luis Miguel Aboitiz and Manny Rubio, Visayan Electric Co., Inc.’s Anton Perdices, and UnionBank’s Ana Aboitiz-Delgado shared their knowledge, experience, and philosophies that reinforce high hopes for the country for these future leaders.

Now on its 11th year of building young talented leaders, the AFLBS continues to prepare and empower the youth to be change-makers in their chosen field of profession and in society.

“In Aboitiz, people are our greatest assets, which means that human resources holds a key role in the organization—that of finding the right people to occupy the right positions and motivating them to excel and be the best at what they do,” shared Txabi Aboitiz, AEV Chief Human Resource Officer.

“Nurture your potential. Explore your natural curiosity about the world and your interest in the diversity of people. For this interest can inspire visionary initiatives even beyond our borders.”
