Pilmico supports Davao Del Norte rabbit raisers

Municipality of Carmen, DAVAO DEL NORTE — Pilmico and Gold Coin Group (Pilmico), the food and agribusiness subsidiary of the Aboitiz Group, recently turned over specialty equipment to the Carmen Municipal Slaughterhouse to benefit rabbit raisers in their community.

Representatives of Pilmico led by Assistant Vice President for Livestock Mindanao Jefferson Abian turned over the rabbit meat processing equipment. Present at the event were Davao del Norte Quality Rabbit Meat Producers Association (DAQRAMPA) President Jerwin Pugoy, DARQRAMPA Committee Chair on Membership Marlon Trumata and their members.

Let us work together to promote rabbit meat consumption in the Municipality of Carmen and soon to the rest of the region,” said Pugoy, who looks forward to further solidifying the rabbit-raising community with Pilmico.

Abian thanked the Mayor for extending his full support for the project.

“Our gratitude goes to Mayor Leonidas Bahague of the Municipality of Carmen for supporting us in this endeavor. With your help, you can rely on us to continue being a Partner for Growth of our rabbit raisers,” Abian said.

This donation aligns with the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) initiative to promote rabbit raising. In a memo circulated by the DA last February 6, they stated that rabbit meat has high protein content, iron, and minerals and is low in cholesterol. Furthermore, it can serve as an alternative source of income for farmers.

Pilmico launched its rabbit feeds brand Kunemax last 2021 amidst the rising demand for protein consumption.
