The Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) – Jobs and Education Sector recently met with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to present a unified set of recommendations aimed at building a future-ready Filipino workforce. The Council emphasized the urgency of aligning education, training, and regulatory reforms with the rapidly evolving demands of the global economy, particularly in light of accelerating technological shifts driven by the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence.
In strong alignment with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s recent call to expand internet access in the country’s most remote areas, Aboitiz Foundation, in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), is accelerating its efforts to energize and digitally enable last-mile schools across the Philippines, targeting at least 300 schools as part of its ongoing rollout. Aboitiz Foundation believes that powering schools is the critical first step toward making digital learning a reality for students in underserved communities.
“I feel a sense of nostalgia volunteering for Brigada Eskwela, being a product of a public school myself. Activities like these make me feel that my being an Aboitiz Future Leaders scholar has a bigger purpose,” shared Jason Yabut, a mechanical engineering student from the University of the Philippines Diliman.
The Aboitiz Foundation and the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) have formalized a partnership to equip women with digital skills in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and six other regions, marking a milestone initiative that promotes peace, inclusion, and economic empowerment.
