Knowledge Channel taps WeatherPhilippines for education programs

Private weather information provider WeatherPhilippines Foundation has partnered with the Knowledge Channel Foundation to promote disaster resilience among schools and instill the #WeatherWiser mindset in today’s young generation.

The partnership, which was sealed with a memorandum of agreement signed last June 18, will benefit selected public schools nationwide under the Knowledge Channel’s Learning Effectively through Enhanced Pedagogies (LEEP) Program.

WeatherPhilippines’ educational videos and weather information will be used as teaching materials as well as content in Knowledge Channel’s online learning portal (www.knowledgechannel.org) and YouTube channel.

WeatherPhilippines will also conduct training for Knowledge Channel’s team and beneficiaries for a better understanding of weather terminologies.

“WeatherPhilippines was organized to empower communities to optimize weather knowledge in making informed decisions for disaster resilience. In this partnership with Knowledge Channel, we are hoping to acquire more leverage to continue our mission of making communities safer, sustainable, and empowered,” said WeatherPhilippines First Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Maribeth Marasigan.

“With this collaboration with WeatherPhilippines, we will be able to bring to the teachers a better way of teaching and processing weather information. We are also looking forward to sharing this to our student beneficiaries, to make them realize that there is a career in this kind of industry,” said Knowledge Channel President and Executive Director Rina Lopez-Bautista.
