Invest in Our Planet: AboitizPower Oil BU celebrates Earth Day 2022
AboitizPower Oil BU subsidiaries nationwide joined in celebrating Earth Day 2022 by organizing simultaneous activities in line with this year’s theme, “Invest in our Planet.” Along with its stakeholders and partners, AP champions collective action through efforts to help address the global climate crisis.
Here’s a quick rundown of activities conducted by AP subsidiaries last April 22:
Mangrove Planting

Around 720 mangrove seedlings were planted during the Mangrove tree planting activity facilitated by Therma Marine, Inc. (TMI) and Brgy. San Roque, Maco, Davao de Oro. This was joined by employees of TMI, Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Municipal and Community Environment and Natural Resources Offices (DENR-MENRO and CENRO), Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Local Government of Brgy. San Roque.
Coastal and Community Clean-up

Therma Mobile, Inc. (TMO) in Navotas City and Therma Marine Inc., (TMI) in Maco, Davao de Oro, organized coastal clean-up drives in their respective areas. Participated by the companies’ employees, TMO collected 50 bags while TMI collected 67 kilos of residual waste.
Meanwhile, TMI in Nasipit, Agusan del Norte conducted a bayanihan clean up activity in areas around the facility to give back to the environment and communities in the vicinity of its operations.
Information and Education Campaign
East Asia Utilities Corporation (EAUC) in Lapu-lapu City conducted an information and education campaign (IEC) on energy management systems with its host community in Brgy. Ibo. The campaign aims to inform consumers on the proper ways to conserve energy and how these can impact their community and the environment.
During this event, some staff from the Department of Energy (DOE-Visayas) served as guest speakers including Ms. Macialita Garcia, Engr. Miguel Trenuela, Engr. Gelly Ann K. Zamora, and Engr. Renelyn C. Estiya.
Vermicomposting Project Turnover
Therma Power-Visayas, Inc. (TPVI) and Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (AFI) turned over a Vermicomposting Project to the Organic Agriculture Practitioner Association at Tina-an, Naga City. During this activity, the association received materials needed to create vermicompost beds. This initiative will help expand organic farming and vermicomposting in the area to help improve the community’s organic waste management and soil fertility.
The turnover activity was attended by Naga City Councilor and Committee Chair for Agriculture Justino Dakay.
