DepEd recognizes Aboitiz Group for support in nation-building

The Department of Education (DepEd) has recognized the Aboitiz Group’s outstanding contribution in pursuing the development of basic quality education in the Philippines.

Seventeen Aboitiz business units and two foundations received DepEd Certificates of Appreciation during its Partners’ Appreciation ceremony held in Pasig City for the long-standing commitment to promoting education and collaboration under the Adopt-A-School Program (ASP). Among these are AboitizLand, Aboitiz Foundation, CitySavings, Cotabato Light, Davao Light, Hedcor, Hedcor Sibulan, Hedcor Davao, Pilmico, Pilmico Animal Nutrition, TMI (Therma Marine) Maco, TMI Nasipit, TMO (Therma Mobile), Luzon Hydro, AP Renewables, Inc. (APRI)-MakBan, APRI-Tiwi, Therma Luzon, VECO, and WeatherPhilippines.

“Thank you very much to the Aboitiz Group for your generosity and support and continued interest in education. We truly appreciate your assistance all these years and your contribution to the vast improvements that have been made in education,” Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones said.

Aboitiz Foundation First Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Maribeth Marasigan,  who led the Aboitiz delegation, said: “We have always been grateful to partner with DepEd in our commitment to bridge quality education to employment. We in the Aboitiz Group continuously find ways to keep this partnership alive and effective by carefully looking for strategic points of collaboration. We are happy to witness great results through the successes of our scholars, students, teachers, and schools that we empower.”

The Aboitiz Group’s support to DepEd through ASP is part of its strategies in advancing business and communities by co-creating safe, empowered, and sustainable communities. Through its Education program, the Aboitiz Foundation, in partnership with the Aboitiz business units, develop technical vocational high schools and science elementary schools, rewire classrooms, and provide college scholarships.

Through DepEd’s ASP, the Aboitiz Group, along with other companies, are able to contribute in addressing immediate educational needs, raising critical resources, and promoting worthwhile investments in nation-building. DepEd’s partnerships with the private sector work toward educating Filipinos and providing access to holistic and inclusive quality education nationwide.
