CitySavings promotes quality education through Project TEACH

“When we initially started, we thought it would be difficult. But when we underwent the Educator Empowerment Program (EEP), we realized it’s actually easy to teach”, shared teacher Cristy Eisma of San Jose Elementary School in Quezon City, after undergoing in-service training sessions provided by City Savings Bank, Inc. (CitySavings) through Project TEACH.

Project TEACH: Educator Empowerment Program aims to address the critical issue of teacher quality in Philippine public schools. It is anchored in the belief that the quality of education begins and ends with the quality of teaching and learning in our learning institutions.

This innovative education reform program is aligned with the Department of Education’s (DepEd) National Competency-Based Teachers Standard (NCBTS), Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST), the K-12 Curriculum, and Learning Action Cells (LACs) model for teacher in-service training.

Beneficiary teachers are given six training modules each year where they are provided easy, self-paced lessons on over 100 topics critical to teaching and learning in the classroom. Training sessions are conducted by the teachers in school.

Teachers from Delfin Jaranilla Elementary School in Dasmariñas, Cavite further shared that the project “allows teachers to train regularly and are given the opportunity to make learning a habit and develop their lifelong learning potential, which is the key to imparting lifelong learning habits to students who need to improve on academic performance”, and “the training modules contain different topics and session guides (and) it makes the preparation more easy and convenient for the teachers.”

To date, around 1,600 teachers from 19 schools in National Capital Region (NCR) and CALABARZON (Region 4A) are currently benefiting from Project TEACH since it was launched in January 2018. For school year 2019-2020, CitySavings has extended the program to 19 more school beneficiaries in the same regions during the Project TEACH launching last February 23 at Betty Go Elementary School, Quezon City for NCR, and March 02 at the Division Office of Dasmariñas City for Region 4A (CALABARZON).

Project TEACH (Teach. Empower. Aspire. Challenge. Help) is one of CitySavings’ signature Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs as part of the bank’s mission to advance business and communities in the areas it serves. It is made possible through a partnership with Alchemy Education Solutions Inc.
