BOI honors Aboitiz Group with Pandemic Heroes Award
By providing genuine support and assistance during the Covid-19 pandemic, Aboitiz Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of the Aboitiz Group, received the Pandemic Heroes Award from the Philippine Board of Investment (BOI) during the Appreciation Ceremony held at the Aboitiz Corporate office in Bonifacio Global City last September 29, 2022.
The Pandemic Heroes Award is given to BOI’s partner stakeholders in various industries that responded to pressing needs during the COVID-19 pandemic and provided genuine support and assistance in ensuring the health and safety of our countrymen and bringing opportunities through investments.
At the onset of the pandemic, BOI tapped the private sector to help provide critical PPEs for important government hospitals. Aboitiz Foundation was BOI’s early partner and readily donated medical-grade N95 masks as a form of assistance.
“Since the pandemic broke, the Aboitiz Group has been continually working with the government and our brave medical and security frontliners to defeat it. In 2020, we donated full sets of medical-grade PPEs through our partners in the Board of Investments, and we are committed to supporting the government for the long term. Rest assured, we will continue to find ways to help our fellow Filipinos as we continue to journey on the road to recovery and growth,” said Sabin M. Aboitiz, Aboitiz Group President and Chief Executive Officer.
“The Aboitiz Group through the Aboitiz Foundation, always seeks how to make ourselves available to be of service to our kababayans who are in dire need of help. Our commitment is constant – we go where help is most needed. This is staying true to our promise of “Advancing Business and Communities”. The economy cannot advance without lifting up the communities and likewise, the communities cannot progress without an enabling economy,” said Maribeth L. Marasigan, Aboitiz Foundation President and COO.
In his speech, BOI Executive Director Atty. Bobby G. Fondevilla shared that at the height of the Covid 19 pandemic, there was a high demand for PPEs and other medical supplies. At some point, there was a shortage of supply that aggravated the situation. The pandemic challenged not only the disease control and crisis management of the Philippine government but it also emphasized the importance of the cooperation and participation of all affected stakeholders.
“As the board of investments celebrates its 55th anniversary, we express our heartfelt gratitude and present the Pandemic Heroes Award. This award is a salutation for the Aboitiz Group for going the extra mile for our country during the Covid-19 pandemic. In presenting this award, we emphasize the relevance of the partnership between the government and stakeholders in attaining a harmonious and progressive society,” said BOI Executive Director Atty. Bobby G. Fondevilla.
The Aboitiz Group has contributed over P2.2 billion to the national Covid-19 response effort, demonstrating the Group’s continuous effort to assist in meeting the immediate requirements of the country’s health care workers and affected communities nationwide. #
