Banilad Moms Showcase Cooking Skills in Food Festival

Food Festival. These are mothers of the students of Banilad Night High School and Banilad Elementary School, members of the Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina Federation together with Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. employees during the food festival held at the Hon. Ananias G. Ouano Sports Complex Banilad.

 

Food enthusiasts got to indulge their taste buds in delicious dishes, mouth-watering desserts and tasty delicacies as mothers from Barangay Banilad, Cebu City showcased their cooking skills during the Food Festival October 17, 2012 at the Banilad National High School (BNHS) Gym.

Sold during the day-long activity were breaded pork chop and chicken, spaghetti, siomai, pearl meatball and fresh lumpia.  For dessert, the mothers prepared leche flan, binangkal, pound pie, pineapple pie and banana cupcake.  They also prepared delicacies like puto cheese, cuchinta, maja blanca, budbud and biko.

Participants of the Food Festival were mothers of students of BNHS and Banilad Elementary School, and members of the Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina Federation in the barangay.  These women are among those who are enrolled in the Mothers Livelihood Project of Aboitiz Foundation, Inc.’s Adopt-a-School program.

For two years now, from July to March, these women have been participating in livelihood and other skills training sessions conducted by team members of Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. as an employee-initiated outreach activity.  During these sessions, they are taught skills that could provide them with alternative means to earn a living.
