AEV launches ‘Innovation in Governance’ Academy
Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. launched its first capability building program on Project Management with 24 participants from the public sector, particularly from the Office of the Cabinet Secretary (OCS) and Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG), in a two-day, back-to-back workshop held at the Meranti Hotel last month.
Designed by the Project Management Institute (PMI), the learning series dubbed Innovation in Governance (IG) Academy aims to establish a culture of competence and efficiency in handling projects that can help drive positive change within government departments and later on, the agency itself. Project Management Professionals Pablo L. Yambot and Alan Gosiengfiao facilitated the workshops.
The training showcased modules, various frameworks and approaches on project management, project initiation and planning, risk management, stakeholder involvement, and project monitoring and implementation process. There were also break-out sessions among the participants that ventured on actual applications of project management concepts to existing projects the participants are currently handling.
Embracing the theme, “Continuously finding #BetterWays to be of better service to the Filipinos,” IG Academy works to promote a culture of innovation and excellence in governance and public management in order to drive change for a better Philippines, a better world.
“We can all provide great opportunities to serve the Filipino people better through this partnership,” Atty. Jeck Otero of OCS said.
Aboitiz envisions IG Academy to be made more relevant to the Government partners by offering special education on management and governance and sharing of best practices and innovations from the private sector.
“IG Academy is a decisive step towards strengthening the Aboitiz Group’s role in nation building. This is our way of continuously partnering with the government to advance the business and communities,” said AEV Vice President for Government Relations Christopher Camba.
