AboitizPower’s LIMA Enerzone powers up LIMA Estate expansion

AboitizPower’s LIMA Enerzone powers up LIMA Estate expansion

In line with LIMA Estate’s fast load growth and ongoing expansion, AboitizPower’s distribution utility arm LIMA EnerZone, has recently completed the energization of the Batangas – LIMA 69kV Line 2, effectively increasing its reliability and doubling capacity to 100 megawatts (MW). It also provides supply connection redundancy to LIMA, as Line 2 may be used as contingency in case Line 1 is interrupted or vice versa.

“The Batangas – LIMA 69kV Line 2 is a key piece of infrastructure that will cater to existing locators’ increasing power needs as well as the anticipated growth in demand from LIMA Estate’s industrial and commercial expansion. We are happy to have completed this project with our affiliates, LIMA EnerZone and Aboitiz Construction, fully showcasing #OneAboitiz at work,” said Rafael Fernandez de Mesa, LIMA Land, Inc. President and Head of Aboitiz InfraCapital’s Economic Estates.

“This comes at the perfect time as construction of our latest 47 hectare expansion is nearing completion. Because of the sustained demand, we have also recently broken ground on another expansion that will add an additional 150 hectares of inventory. As we welcome new locators to LIMA Estate, we also look forward to the continuous transformation of the Estate through the introduction of new product lines, sustainability initiatives, and smart city features,” he added.

The 27-kilometer sub-transmission line extends from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) Batangas at Brgy. Mahabang Parang in Batangas City to LIMA Estate in Lipa – Malvar, passing through JP Laurel Highway. It currently serves as the primary power supply line of LIMA Estate.

LIMA EnerZone commissioned Aboitiz Construction for the build of the sub-transmission line, which started in March 2019. LIMA also partnered with Batangas II Electric Cooperative, Inc. for joint pole usage that would attach its 69kV sub-transmission to EnerZone’s steel poles to ensure power reliability and flexibility.

In 2018, AboitizPower’s Aboitiz Power Distributed Energy, Inc. (APX) and LIMA Estate also teamed up to install 1.5MWP solar panels on the roofs of The Outlets at Lipa, which offset 31,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually, equivalent to planting 1.4 million trees.

LIMA Estate’s expansion is expected to bring in 200 hectares of land inventory and increase LIMA’s working population to 137,000.

Aboitiz InfraCapital’s LIMA Estate, a 794-hectare industrial-anchored township in Lipa-Malvar, Batangas, is home to 130 international and local locators, 62,000 employees, 2,500 households, a 138-room 4-star hotel development, and 167 shops located in its mall establishments.

With its growing 30-hectare Central Business District (CBD) – the first to rise in Batangas – LIMA has emerged as more than just a leading industrial estate, but also the center for commerce in the Batangas province. It currently houses various commercial components such as The Outlets at Lipa, LIMA Exchange, LIMA Park Hotel, and LIMA Transport Hub.

LIMA Land, Inc. also recently broke ground on LIMA Tower One, a PEZA-certified building which boasts 34,000 square meters of Gross Floor Area. It is the first of its planned seven-tower office park at the heart of LIMA’s CBD, which aims to capitalize on the anticipated boom of business process outsourcing (BPO) companies outside the National Capital region. LIMA has also put four hectares of commercial lot inventory up for sale in 2021.

Apart from LIMA EnerZone and Aboitiz Construction, the Estate is also supported by AIC affiliate LIMA Water Corporation, which is currently working on the completion of its Smart Water Network to ensure that LIMA locators will continue to enjoy a reliable and sustainable water supply for years to come.

LIMA and AIC’s other Economic Estates namely Mactan Economic Zone 2 (MEZ2) Estate and West Cebu Estate (WCE) in Cebu, continue to keep the country’s economic engine running amid the pandemic by sustaining operations, thereby ensuring that 100,000 Filipinos remain employed within the Estates and are able to provide livelihood for their families. The ongoing expansions at LIMA Estate as well as WCE will add another 143 hectares of fresh inventory to AIC’s portfolio and will continue to support economic recovery by enticing new investors, generating more jobs, and spurring business activity in their localities.

Meanwhile, Lima EnerZone is part of AboitizPower’s EnerZone group, which is made up of five privately owned electric distribution utilities that operate the distribution systems of select economic zones in Subic, Mactan, Cebu and Batangas.
