Around 1,500 displaced families by the fire that gutted Market 3 of the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) compound in Navotas City last January 10 received relief packs from Therma Mobile, Inc. (TMO), a subsidiary of the AboitizPower Oil Group. Each bag contained eight pieces of The Care Package, which contains 100-gram packs of nutritious Pilmico high-energy biscuits loaded with 450 kilocalories (equivalent to one full meal) and six-liter bottles of distilled water. These items were crucial as many affected families included nursing mothers and their infants. TMO team member volunteers, together with the local government unit and PFDA team, distributed the goods to evacuees who temporarily sought shelter in makeshift shelters donated by the local social welfare office. The initiative was supported by the Aboitiz Foundation, the social development arm of the Aboitiz Group, which provides assistance to those in need as part of its thrust to promote Health & Well-Being for a BetterWorld. It is among the first to respond during disasters while providing access through the help of its business units.
