Malpitic, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

The city of San Fernando, Pampanga  and San Fernando Electric Light and Power Company (SFELAPCO),   through the AboitizPower and the Abotiz Foundation Inc. have allocated P4.6 million for the construction of a two-story, four-classroom building for Malpitic Elementary School.

During the ground breaking ceremony held last September 21, AboitizPower pledged to help improve the quality of education for the youth of Barangay Malpitic, represented by Councilor Jimmy Lazatin.

“If there is one thing you want to own in this world, it is education. We need to partner with the private sector; the LGU cannot do it alone,” Councilor Jimmy Lazatin said.

“We believe that the greatest legacy that we can leave to our children is education. It is for this reason that we make education the main thrust in our social development initiatives.  Again, the Aboitiz Group of companies continues to stand by its commitment to assist communities in where our companies operate.  We continue to fulfill our mission of helping people help themselves by implementing projects that will improve their quality of lives.” AboitizPower SVP for Power Trading and Marketing Miguel Aboitiz said.

Last year alone, AboitizPower Corp. currently supplies 100% Cleanergy, its brand of cleaner and renewable energy, to SFELAPCO. The said energy is sourced from AboitizPower’s geothermal facilities in the Makiling-Banahaw area, and Tiwi, Albay. AboitizPower’s geothermal plants are being operated by its wholly owned subsidiary AP Renewables, Inc.

Beyond San Fernando itself, AboitizPower has  funded the construction and refurbishment of 15 school buildings and over 150 classrooms in the country; it has also  partnered with Aklat, Gabay, Aruga tungo sa Pag-angat at Pag-asa (AGAPP) Foundation to fight illiteracy.

Vice Mayor Edwin Santiago also added that, the city government of the City of the San Fernando is really grateful to AboitizPower, Aboitiz Foundation and SFELAPCO for its meaningful gift to the students of Malpitic.
