Aboitiz team members support ‘service marathon’ for Marawi relief
Vice President Leni G. Robredo cheers with Aboitiz Group volunteers, led by the Aboitiz Foundation, during SERVATHON 2017, an annual “service marathon” (SERVATHON) organized by Hands On Manila Foundation, Inc. on Saturday, September 23 at the Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City.
SERVATHON 2017, with the theme “Mobilizing Manila for Hope in Mindanao,” gathered company volunteers who assembled kits containing basic necessities for communities in Mindanao. Volunteers were divided into groups to make various kits: mosquito traps, care packages, sleeping kits, and mobile learning kits. The Aboitiz Group volunteers assembled sleeping kits, which were turned over by Hands On Manila to the International Care Ministries (ICM) and Community and Family Services International. Over 1,000 volunteers from various companies participated in SERVATHON 2017.
“We in the Aboitiz Foundation believe that we have a responsibility to aid those who affected by in times of armed conflict. We hope that through the sleeping kits we have assembled, we can help our brothers and sister from Marawi City lead normal lives once again. This is also part of our larger goal to co-create safe, empowered, and sustainable communities,” Maribeth L. Marasigan, Aboitiz Foundation First Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, said.
As an organization of compassionate service, the Aboitiz Foundation is among the first to respond in times of disaster and conflict. These efforts support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals on Good Health and Well-Being and Climate Action.
