Aboitiz partners with UP NISMED for teacher training

The Aboitiz Foundation, together with AP Renewables, Inc. (APRI) MakBan and APRI Tiwi, supported science teachers during a three-day training entitled “Seminar-Workshop On Teaching Selected Topics in Science for Special Science Elementary School Teachers” last December 13 to 15.

Conducted by the University of the Philippines National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development (UP NISMED), the seminar-workshop aimed to enhance elementary school teachers’ instructional competencies in teaching science through inquiry to develop learners’ higher order thinking skills, process skills, and scientific attitude. The teacher-participants were given the opportunity to be familiar with the learning competencies in selected strands of the K-12 science curriculum. The seminar was attended by 16 teachers from Sto. Tomas South Central School, Tiwi Central School, and Taguig Integrated School. The training was in line with the Aboitiz Foundation’s flagship project on education which is the development of special science elementary schools.

As part of its Education for a BetterWorld campaign, the Foundation continues to actively initiate and support programs aimed at instituting reforms in the country’s education system. Its end goal is to produce citizens who are equipped with the skills and knowledge that will empower them to address the challenges of the future.
