Aboitiz outreach makes Christmas memorable for 300 Taguig kids

Aboitiz outreach makes Christmas memorable for 300 Taguig kids

Krisha and Erika are just two of the children who received early Christmas gifts from the Aboitiz Group during its Christmas Outreach held last Saturday, November 23. Almost 300 kids from Barangay Lower Bicutan, Taguig City spent their Saturday morning making stuffed toys (plushies) together with about 180 Manila-based Aboitiz team member-volunteers. Apart from the handmade plushies, the children also brought home gift boxes and Christmas grocery packages.

“Sana nandito din ang mga kapatid at pinsan ko para masaya din sila tulad namin (I hope my siblings and cousins are also here so they will be happy like us),” Krisha, one of the participants said. During the event lunch, Krisha kept her food and drinks in her bag so she can bring home to her siblings.  “Sa bahay nalang po ako kakain para makakain din ang mga kapatid ko (I will just eat the food at home so my siblings can eat, too)“, Krisha said.

The event included an entertainment show as well as plushie-making and gift-giving activities, organized months in advance to ensure that the kids enjoy the entire program.

“Sharing our love with these kids has a far-reaching and longer-term impact as we make precious memories that these kids will carry for the rest of their lives. It warms our hearts knowing how our team members constantly seek ways to put our values to work,” said Erramon I. Aboitiz, Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer.

It makes me proud to be part of a company that inspires people to share, be responsible, and give back. For me, events like this give deeper meaning to why we work in Aboitiz,” Lanie Tabuena, another Aboitiz team member said.

The Aboitiz Christmas Outreach is an annual tradition of Aboitiz team members to give back to its neighboring communities and pursue its brand promise of advancing business and communities.

Each year, the team members, led by the Aboitiz Group Human Resources and the Aboitiz Foundation, initiate fundraising activities such as Music Night for a Cause, Trivia Night, and tournaments to make the Christmas Outreach more memorable and fun for the kids. This year, Aboitiz started the #GiveBox campaign wherein each team member fills the boxes with school supplies, hygiene kits, and special gifts for the children.
