Aboitiz donor Fundacion Solventia turns over new computers for Yolanda-stricken school
These computer units, each equipped with a one-year Internet connection, are seen to benefit an estimated 340 students.
In 2014, Fundacion Solventia organized a fundraising marathon activity in Spain dubbed “Run for the Philippines” to help raise funds for the repair and rehabilitation of schools damaged by Typhoon Yolanda. The proceeds, donated to the Aboitiz Foundation as part of the Aboitiz Group’s #BangonVisayas campaign, were allocated for the repair and rehabilitation of Anonang Sur Elementary School, which was among those heavily damaged when Typhoon Yolanda, one of the world’s strongest typhoons on record, hit the Visayas region on November 8, 2013.
Present during the turnover ceremony were Aboitiz Foundation Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Augusto P.I. Carpio III, Bogo City Mayor Carlo Martinez, Anonang Sur Barangay Captain George Tabaco, Bogo City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Nimfa Bongo, and Aboitiz Foundation Manager for Education Jowelle Ann Cruz.
“We are honored to have partners such as Fundacion Solventia to help us build a #BetterWorld for our student beneficiaries and their families despite the challenges of a calamity. We hope our students will be able to use these computers in their respective educational journeys toward a better future,” Carpio said.
