Aboitiz Construction, together with Aboitiz InfraCapital’s LIMA Estate, held a groundbreaking ceremony last January 24 for their latest project with El Colono del Oeste, Inc. (El Colono). The firm tapped Aboitiz Construction for the build of a 3,000 sq. meter warehouse and 18,337 sq. meter land development inside LIMA Technology Center in Batangas.

The developments will greatly expand the business of El Colono, which is engaged in building warehouses and housing firms in the industrial sector.

“Hopefully, this is the first of many projects together with Aboitiz Construction. The tagline ‘building a better future for a better Philippines’ is very aligned with El Colono. Our idea is to reinvest in the Philippines: build, generate jobs, and add value,” said  El Colono Director Nico Bolzico.

Anticipated to be completed in six months, the project is set to hire more than 80 skilled workers, prioritizing local talent.

It will also prepare the land for the rise of more commercial structures in LIMA Technology Center. The 800-hectare Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) registered mixed-use economic zone is developed by Aboitiz InfraCapital. It is widely recognized and awarded for leadership in industrial-anchored mixed-use development, as well as sustainable industrial development. LIMA Estate is the first industrial park to achieve the pilot 5-star Building for Ecologically Responsive Design Excellence (BERDE) District Certification rating, the highest possible rating awarded by the Philippine Green Building Council (PhilGBC) to developments.

As part of its technological transformation, Aboitiz Construction will use the state-of-the-art technology of Next Century Building Systems, Inc. for the wall panels of the warehouse. This is expected to significantly shorten construction time, without compromising the quality of the work. Furthermore, Aboitiz Construction will also be using automated equipment to execute land development for higher quality and more efficient work.

“We are very delighted to be working with El Colono in pursuing this project. This complements our capabilities in engineering and construction while focusing on our massive transformative purpose of building for business to prosper and for communities to thrive,” said Aboitiz Construction Vice President for Business Generation Levi Agoncillo.

In 2020, Aboitiz Construction successfully completed the construction of The Outlets at Lipa, a 9-hectare mixed-use commercial facility located in LIMA Estate. The Outlets at Lipa is recognized as the largest outdoor mall in Batangas. Currently, Aboitiz Construction is in the process of site development works for the second phase of LIMA Estate’s 57-hectare industrial land expansion, as well as future land development activities for the Japanese firm Shin-Estu.
