Aboitiz Construction makes welding, dressmaking courses available for Balamban students
Aboitiz Construction, Inc., together with the Aboitiz Foundation and the municipal government of Balamban, Cebu expanded last March a technical-vocational (tech-voc) infrastructure project for the town’s Buanoy National High School, providing new facilities for local would-be tech-voc learners.
The project, which costs P1.2 million, included the construction of a laboratory completely equipped with welding and dressmaking equipment where trainings for learners may be held.
The project aims to help students who want to take the tech-voc livelihood track of the K to 12 curriculum imposed by the Department of Education. They may then opt to work at nearby Aboitiz Construction International, Inc., Aboitiz Construction’s international arm.
“This project is our way of giving back, manifesting the Aboitiz purpose of driving change for a better world through advancing business and communities,” said Aboitiz Construction president and chief operating officer Alberto Ignacio, Jr.
Aboitiz Construction currently employs over 5,000 team members or what they call kaubans all over the country, including approximately 2,000 (and growing) in Balamban, Cebu alone. It has fabrication, construction, and engineering experience, both local and international, for over four decades. With proper training and values, Aboitiz Construction’s workforce can help place the Philippines on the world map.
