    Aboitiz Group allocates aid for government COVID-19 frontliners

    The Aboitiz Group has donated much-needed medical equipment, protective gear, and other related items to government and military frontliners, as well as to government hospitals, in recognition of their hard work and valuable presence amid the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis.

    This equipment will help them ensure uninterrupted operations to better serve the public.

    “As we continue to address the threat of COVID-19 nationwide, the Aboitiz Group will continue to ensure that our frontliners in various government agencies are able to perform their duties capably, competently., and most importantly, safely. We sincerely hope that these donations will go a long way in helping them serve our communities amid the current crisis,” said Sabin M. Aboitiz, Aboitiz Group President and Chief Executive Officer.

    A total of 15,500 surgical masks, 1,500 surgical gloves, 20 tents, and four alcohol drums were donated to the  Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Immigration, Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council, the Bureaus of Customs and Quarantine, and the Departments of National Defense, Labor and Employment, Agriculture, Trade and Industry, Transportation, and Social Welfare and Development.

    A total of 4,500 surgical masks and 1,500 surgical gloves were also turned over to the government-run Philippine General Hospital, Lung Center of the Philippines, and Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital.

    “Thank you so much to Aboitiz for keeping the Fleet Marine Team always in your hearts. From Marawi to today’s COVID-19 crisis, you were always there for us. Thank you Sir DJ Sta. Ana for the 1,000 face masks, 1,000 gloves and 1 drum of alcohol for our sailor and marine frontliners malaking tulong po sa kanila ito,” said Brigadier General Rodylyn T. Manzano of the Philippine Marines.

    The face masks and gloves were turned over to the sailors of the Naval Reserve Command and Philippine Marines while the alcohol drum was turned over to the Manila Naval Hospital in Fort Bonifacio and Cavite Naval Hospital.

    The Philippine National Police General Hospital in Camp Crame, Quezon City also received containers of alcohol, while Philippine National Police Regions 3 and 4A received personal protective equipment such as eye goggles and face masks as well as thermal scanners.

    PPA meanwhile, gratefully welcomed the donation as it keeps the port’s frontline personnel protected ensuring the smooth flow of cargoes into the local and international supply chain. 

    On the PPA’s Facebook page, PPA General Manager Jay Daniel R. Santiago said the donation came in handy as the port’s frontline personnel remains busy ensuring the smooth flow of cargoes, essential and otherwise, into the local and international supply chain. Santiago said the entire PPA community greatly appreciates the concern from Aboitiz.

    Meantime the Department of Health on its Facebook page expressed gratitude to the Aboitiz Group for their compassion and immediate response to extend assistance to the communities.

    “Thank you so much to the Aboitiz Group for their concern for the families affected by the enhanced community quarantine from COVID-19 pandemic. Through the Project Ugnayan, Aboitiz Group donated P100 million to support communities affected by ECQ.” 

    On top of this, the Aboitiz Group has also donated about P130 million to public and private campaigns nationwide. These recent turnovers are part of the Aboitiz Group’s long-term efforts to help the government address the concerns of frontliners as well as the communities it serves amid the pandemic.
