Aboitiz Foundation obtains re-accreditation from CDA as certified training provider

Aboitiz Group corporate social development arm Aboitiz Foundation recently obtained a re-accreditation as a certified technical training provider by the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA). The foundation is the first CDA-accredited corporate foundation in the country.

The re-accreditation means more cooperatives throughout the country will benefit from the free technical trainings that the foundation is providing through its enterprise development  or Aboitiz Business Assistance and Guidance (ABAG) program.  The other program components are education and environment .

“The foundation has been actively encouraging community engagement, helping beneficiaries, and empowering them to have a better future. We will continue implementing this program as we want to inspire and help people help themselves,” said Aboitiz Foundation Managing Trustee and Chief Operating Officer Sonny I. Carpio.

For more than 20 years, the Foundation has been assisting small enterprising organizations nationwide be self-reliant by giving access to income-generating livelihood, job opportunities, and capability-building.

These trainings ensure that projects handled by its partner cooperatives are sustainable and that they are empowered and equipped with the right set of skills in handling their businesses, thereby making capitalization easily accessible.

Technical trainings offered include Basic Cooperative Course, Cooperative Management and Governance, Financial Management, Conflict Management, Parliamentary Procedure, Leadership and Values Reorientation, Strategic Planning, Audit Management, Records Management, Entreprenuerial and Business Management, Basic Accounting for Non-Accountants, Internal Control, Rules Formulation, Cooperative Standards and Policy Development.

These training programs are in compliance with Memorandum Circular No. 2011-14 known as the Standard Training Curricula for Cooperatives, specified in R.A. 9520 or the Philippine Cooperative Code.

The foundation’s assisted cooperatives are required to undergo these trainings as a requisite for the renewal of their certificate of good standing.
