Aboitiz Equity Ventures named among ASEAN’s best in corporate governance

Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. (AEV) was recently honored for being among the region’s best companies in terms of adherence to good corporate governance, based on a leading regional benchmark.

AEV was recognized as one of the Top 50 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) publicly-listed companies at the 2nd ASEANCorporate Governance Awards Ceremony organized by ASEAN Corporate Governance and ASEAN Capital Markets Forum last November 21 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. AEV previously won this same award in 2015.

According to the Securities and Exchange Commission, the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard provides a rigorous methodology benchmarked against international best practice to assess the corporate governance performance of publicly-listed companies (PLCs) in six participating ASEAN member countries.

“We are honored to receive this award for AEV, which is a clear manifestation of the company’s dedication to a strong corporate governance policy,” said Erramon I. Aboitiz, AEV President and Chief Executive Officer.

The Top 50 ASEAN PLCs is comprised of 14 PLCs from Malaysia, 11 PLCs from Thailand, 9 PLCs from the Philippines, 12 PLCs from Singapore, and 4 PLCs from Indonesia.
