Subic EnerZone improves Maritan Substation
November 16, 2006To provide simplicity, flexibility, and reliability of electric supply for Subic Techno Park, Subic EnerZone Corporation (SEZ) improved its 27.5 MVA Maritan Substation.
Formerly known as “Eco-Asia Substation”, it supplies electric power for one of the biggest industrial areas in the freeport zone. The project's main objective is to simplify the existing feeder configuration of the switching station at Building 1800 and to transfer these feeders to the Maritan Substation take-off structures.

SEZ server now on-line with DLPC
November 16, 2006After a series of long meetings, finally the plan to connect SEZ's database with DLPC was realized last July 9.
Working hand-in-hand with their DLPC counterparts, SEZ is now directly connected with them and is enjoying the same services and support as our other sister company Cotabato Light & Power Company (CLPC).

VECO assists Meralco restore power lines

Typhoon Milenyo has caused widespread destruction, including destroyed power lines in Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon. To assist in the rehabilitation efforts, Visayan Electric Co. Inc. (Veco) has sent to Manila a six-man team of linemen, called a gang, to help the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) in the herculean task of restoring power as soon as possible. The gang is equipped with insulated aerial platform, hotline tools and equipment and other materials needed for live line works. The aerial platform is capable of reaching heights of up to 60 feet. The linemen are expected to assist the Meralco linemen in the next two weeks.

Subic EnerZone system loss drops to 5.5%, power rates reduced

Subic EnerZone Corporation (SEZ) continues to raise its level of efficiency as it further dropped its system loss to 5.5%, one of the lowest among power utilities in the country today. Customers and locators of the Subic Bay Freeport Zone are now enjoying an additional P0.22 power rate reduction per kilowatt-hour (kwhr) of electricity consumption. This brings the total power reduction to P0.62 per kwhr as of August 2006.

Carbon credits key to Ambuklao and Binga upgrades
June 20, 2006SN Aboitiz Power-Benguet, Inc. (SNAPB), the winning bidder for the Ambuklao and Binga hydropower plants located in Benguet province, is now preparing for the financial close of the asset sale transaction with the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation (PSALM) and the subsequent turnover of the plants to the company. SNAPB will assume operations of the plants right after the turnover scheduled for July 3, 2008.

NMHC’S Bakun mini hydros to be ISO-certified

SEZ is a consortium composed of AEV, Davao Light & Power Company (DLPC), Mirant Philippines and San Fernando Electric Light & Power Company (SFELAPCO).
